DSEK issues new school timings for Kashmir

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has announced a significant change in school timings for Schools in the Kashmir Division. The new timings, which will come into effect from August 12, 2024, have been officially communicated through an order issued on August 10, 2024, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat. According to the directive, schools within the Srinagar Municipal limits will now operate from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For schools located outside the municipal limits of Srinagar and in other areas of the Kashmir Province, the new school timings will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. As per an official order issued by Div com, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat, Class work in all Govt & Private schools upto primary level shall remain suspended on 29th & 30th July. The temperatures in the Kashmir valley are hitting new highs with the mercury crossing 36 degrees in Srinagar on Sunday. Parents of the schoolchildren had been constantly seeking an extension in the summer break for the primary classes in the valley. The ongoing heatwave has resulted in significant receding of water levels in across the water bodies of the region, while agriculture has taken a massive hit.
