Islamia College of Science and Commerce: Inquiry Officer to probe ‘embezzlement’ allegations

Higher Education Department has constituted an Inquiry Officer to conduct a time-bound probe into the allegations leveled against Islamia College of Science and Commerce that it has embezzled UGC grant. Sources said that University Grants Commission had provided a financial grant, earmarked for various developmental works for Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that some members from the College informed Higher Education Department that the UGC grant for the college has been misappropriated. KU to hold all pending and recently postponed exams in offline mode

Kashmir University has announced that it will hold all the pending and recently postponed examinations through offline mode. The announcement comes days after students of KU affiliated Nursing College students were demanding their examination be conducted through online mode in view of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu Kashmir. In a notification, the Controller Examination KU, Prof Irshad Nawchoo said all the pending or recently postponed examinations will be held in offline mode. “No examination shall be held in online mode. The University is already in the process of redrafting date sheets for various pending examinations, which will commence soon after the pandemic situation eases,” the notification read.

Umza Zehra, a resident of Watmagam area of Budgam is a student of Government Girls Higher-Secondary School Magam. Centre likely to issue advisory on reopening of schools soon

With the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children aged 15 gathering pace, the Centre is likely to issue an advisory soon to reopen schools across the country. In an order issued by the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), said that these teachers have been remaining absent unauthorized from their legitimate duties. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is likely to announce the annual regular results of class 10th and 12th, of Kashmir Division, in the second week of February, an official informed on Monday. Board of School Education Joint Secretary Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak told GNS that the processes involved are in progress. “Results are under process and have to undergo several stages before declaration. None of 217 candidates qualify for higher judicial services in Jammu Kashmir

None of the 217 candidates who appeared for the written examination for direct recruitment of District Judges to Jammu Kashmir higher judicial service qualified, Bar and Bench reported. A total of 217 candidates had appeared in the written examination but none secured the qualifying marks of 96 for the general category and 80 for the reserved category. "This was the fifth such instance of even a single lawyer failing to qualify the exam," Bar & Bench quoted a senior Judicial official as saying.
