The air quality in Kashmir has been consistently deteriorating for the past three years, reveals the data compiled by the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board (PCB). The Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM or PM 10) levels at all four stations in Srinagar have shown a steep rise in the last three years. From 14.8 per cent in December, the unemployment rate in Jammu Kashmir has shown a spike of over 7 per cent for the month of January, which is the highest in states and UTs across India. Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), monitoring monthly unemployment in India, has pegged Jammu Kashmir's employment rate at 21.8 percent in the month of January. The monthly figures of the unemployment rate maintained by CMIE since 2016 show that in August 2022, unemployment reached the highest over the years when it jumped to 32.8 per cent. In the month of December, unemployment went down to 14.8 per cent against the 22.4 per cent unemployment rate in November. The Geological Survey of India has found 5.9 million tonnes of Lithium inferred resources (G3) in Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi District of Jammu Kashmir. Officials in the Srinagar district of central Kashmir have listed a total of 6926 patches of land registered under separate Kharsa numbers with the revenue Department of Jammu Kashmir as state land - out of them 6426 patches of state land have been encroached, while 503 patches of land are lying vacant. The Kashmir valley witnessed a rise of over 30 per cent in the total number of fire incidents recorded in the year 2022 against the year 2020.
