Officials on Wednesday launched an anti-encroachment drive in several places of Anantnag district, in pursuance of the orders of the Jammu Kashmir administration that ordered the removal of encroachers on the state land by January 31. The official said that the drives have been launched in all the districts of Jammu Kashmir to remove encroachments on the entire State and Kahcharai land and in this regard, the concerned Tehsildars have asked the encroachers to vacate the state land within a week, failure to do so will result in strict action. In 2022, average of seven fire incidents reported daily in Kashmir, 37 dead, 1,700 structures damaged

The Kashmir valley witnessed a rise of over 30 per cent in the total number of fire incidents recorded in the year 2022 against the year 2020. According to official figures in 2020, 1900 fire incidents were reported around the Kashmir valley while in 2022, 2500 fire incidents were recorded in Kashmir valley from January 01 to December 31. During these fire incidents, a total of 1700 structures were damaged and 37 persons lost their lives.
