A total of 1724 people have been killed by militant violence in Kashmir in the last 31 years, an RTI revealed, Of these, Kashmiri Pandits are 5 percent, while 95 percent of Muslims and people from other communities. Of the total 154,161 people who migrated from Kashmir, 88 percent are Kashmiri Pandits and the remaining 12 percent are others. The Bhartiya Janta party, as per stats, has failed to contain homegrown militancy in Jammu Kashmir since it rose to power in 2014.
