Tamil Nadu police on Saturday booked the Editor of the popular Hindi newspaper, ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ and Tanveer Ahmad – the owner of ‘Tanveer Post’ – for allegedly spreading false news that Hindi-speaking migrant workers were attacked in Tamil Nadu. In a statement on Saturday, the Tamil Nadu police headquarters said that the Tirupur North police station booked the Editor of Dainik Bhaskar under IPC Sections, 153A and 505. According to the statement, the Editor of the newspaper will have to explain as to where they got the news from and whether they verified it. The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Delhi Police whether it has taken any action against the person who allegedly posted abusive tweet against fact-checker and Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair, Bar and Bench reported. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani was dealing with a plea filed by Zubair challenging a first information report (FIR) registered against him for a tweet put out by him. Zubair had put the tweet in response to an abusive message from a user named Jagdish Singh. Subsequently, Zubair was booked by the Delhi Police prompting him to approach the High Court to quash the case. Names of every 9000 Muslim voters have been removed from te voter list in Bengaluru's Muslim stronghold constituency of Shivajinagar, Muslim Mirror reported. This removal is done based on a complaint filed by a private agency named Chilume which has links to the BJP. The complaint was filed on November 16, 2022, and the action was taken by the Election commission in January 2023. Chilume prepared a list of 26,000 voters after collecting the data illegally since October 2022 for the Shivajinagar constituency.
