In a bizzare incident of its kind, a man from Pattan area of Baramulla district got E-challan for his vehicle for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan, where he never visited. Vehicle owner, Abdul Ahad Yatoo told said that he got the E-challan of Rs 10, 000 for his vehicle beating registration number JK05F 1965 via an SMS of E-Challan for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan. He said he was shocked when he suddenly received an SMS on his mobile phone that his vehicle has been challaned for not having driving license and carrying over height load while plying in Ganganagar area of Rajasthan. Court orders survey of Shahi Idgah in UP from January 2

A Mathura district court on Saturday ordered the survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque, which the Hindu side claims to be built on the ‘birthplace’ of Lord Krishna, by the Archaeological Survey of India from January 2. The report will be submitted on January 20. The court passed the order on a lawsuit filed by Vishnu Gupta of the Hindu Sena. The lawsuit is one of the many by Hindu outfits demanding the removal of the 17th century Shahi Idgah Masjid from the Katra Keshav Dev temple, claiming that the mosque has been built on the ‘birthplace’ of Lord Krishna. Delhi-based student activist, Umar Khalid who is lodged at Delhi's Tihar Jail was released after 832 days on a seven-day interim bail to attend his sister’s wedding. The student activist reached his residence at 8.30 am and was not allowed to talk to the media, Maktoob reported. Umar was granted a week`s interim bail in the larger conspiracy case of the 2020 northeast Delhi pogrom by Delhi Court on 12 December. He has to surrender on December 30. He had sought an interim bail of two weeks for attending the marriage. Khalid was arrested on 13 September 2020 in the Anti CAA protest case.

Kerala-based- Journalist Siddique Kappan has been granted bail in the ED case by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday. Sidique Kappan is a Kerala journalist who was detained in October 2020 on his way to Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, to cover a story, where a Dalit woman had died after being raped. He is accused of having ties with the Popular Front of India and participating in a plot to incite violence. The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
