A local court here has summoned Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi for his alleged statement against  Islam and Holy Quran. “Prima facie case for issuance of process for the offences punishable under sections 153A, 295A, 505 of Indian Penal Code is made out against the accused (Tyagi). Supreme Court refuses to hear matter on Hijab row in Karnataka

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to give a date for hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking transfer of the cases over the hijab row from the Karnataka High Court to itself. A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana said: “Let the High Court decide first, then we may see it." The Chief Justice, however, said: “Please wait. Let the Karnataka High Court decide the matter first as they are hearing the matter today.” Sibal said schools and colleges were closed in Karnataka and girls were being stoned. And so the Supreme Court must hear the case. ‘655 police encounter killings in the last five years’: Union Home Ministry

A total of 655 police “encounter” killings have taken place in the country in the last five years with Chhattisgarh reporting the highest number of such cases with 191 cases, Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai has said. According to the Union home ministry, in the period between January 1, 2017 and January 31, 2022, 117 such incidents were reported from Uttar Pradesh, followed by 50 in Assam, 49 in Jharkhand, 36 in Odisha, 35 in Jammu and Kashmir, and 26 in Maharashtra.
