Fuel Prices Hit Fresh High

September 01 Fuel prices continued to rise on Saturday, with petrol and diesel prices touching a new record high in several cities, including Srinagar, Delhi and Mumbai. The price of petrol has been increased to Rs 82.88 per litre in Jammu Kashmir, while diesel is being retailed at Rs. 73.72 per litre. The price of petrol has been increased to Rs 78.68 per litre in Delhi, against Rs. 78.52 on Friday, while diesel is being retailed at Rs. 70.42 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 86.09 per litre (increased by Rs 0.16 per litre), while diesel spurted to a new high of Rs. 74.76 per litre (increased by Rs 0.22 per litre). August 06 The Apex court of India is has postponed the hearing on the key petition to second week of January after both Central and state Government of Jammu Kashmir sought postponement on the petition challenging Article 35A. The Supreme court of India that had earlier adjourned the hearing on the petition to August 31 is being responded to by Kashmiris by a complete shutdown. August 30 437 armed force personnel have committed suicide in the last four years, whereas 237 were killed while fighting enemy either during combat operations against militants or cross border firing, Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, the minister of state for defence Subhash Bhamre said the highest proportion of suicide falls in the Army. 92 personnel from the Indian armed forces have committed suicide in 2017 making it among the highest number of suicides in the World Militaries. August 28 The Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited the flood hit Kerala and met the affected people. Rahul who is on a two-day visit to the flood hit Kerala had appealed the Central government to provide help to flood-hit Kerala. Supreme Court Adjourns hearing on Fresh Petition against 35 A

August 27 The Supreme Court of India has not taken up a fresh plea challenging Article-35A today following adjournment request by the petitioner. Another petition seeking the scrapping of Article-35A has been filed by a Delhi-based NGO “We the Citizens”., which is due to be heard on August 31. The petition listed for hearing was dropped by the Apex Court after an adjournment letter was moved by the petitioner Ashewani Upadhyay. Article 35A was added to the Constitution of India guarantees special status to Jammu Kashmir.
