Army Man Killed in Pakistani Firing on LOC

December 06 A Solider of Indian Army was killed in Pakistani firing on Indian Side along the Machil Sector of North Kashmir's Kupwara District on Thursday. The Indian Army claimed that Pakistan violated the ceasefire by opening fire on Indian troops along the Line of control that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, resulting in the death of one Indian Soldier. “Pakistan violated the ceasefire at around 10:45 am today,” he said, adding that the Indian troops retaliated strongly to the violations.

Zakir Musa Spotted in Punjab in Disguise

December 06 Firozabad and Bathinda regions were put on high alert on Thursday morning after Kashmiri Militant commander Zakir Musa was spotted in Punjab, nearly three weeks after the Amritsar grenade attack. Three Students Including Cousin of Zakir Musa Produced in Court

December 05 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India produced three suspects of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind including cousin of top Militant commander Zakir Musa in a special court on Tuesday amid high security. Yousuf Rafiq Bhat, is a cousin of Kashmir-based militant leader Zakir Musa who is wanted by the forces in the state. The court ordered the accused, including Zahid Gulzar, a resident of Awantipora, and Mohammad Edrish Shah, to remain in judicial custody, the report said. Next hearing is on December 21. Punjab police arrested them from an institute with arms and ammunition. The case was later transferred to the NIA.

November 17 The Punjab Police have been put on high alert following intelligence regarding movement of the chief of Jammu and Kashmir-based Militant outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind near Amritsar. The group is said to have links with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). November 15 The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra police has allegedly seized around 2 kg of charas from a resident of Jammu Kashmir in neighbouring Thane district, a senior official said Wednesday ATS sleuths had received information that the accused was coming to Thane on Monday to sell hashish, commonly known as charas, the official said. He was nabbed on Monday and 1.8 kg of the contraband and a motorcycle were seized from him, the ATS official said. The accused hails from Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, he said. November 06 Two Kashmiri college students have been arrested in connection with the Maqsudan police station hand grenade blast case, reports said. Shahid Qayoom (22) and Fazil Bashir (23), students of an engineering college in Jalandhar, have been arrested, they said. DGP Suresh Arora said in a press release that four persons were involved in carrying out the hand grenade blasts inside the Maqsudan police station in Jalandhar on September 14. Apart from Shahid and Fazil, Mir Ravoof Ahmed alias Rouf and Mir Umar Ramzan alias Gazi were also involved in the act. Rouf and Gazi are absconding, the officer said. October 29 The chief of Indian Army, General Bipin Rawat on Monday said the Army was looking into reports that snipers may have entered the Kashmir Valley to target security forces, PTI reported. The Army was yet to find any sniper weapons, he said. Since mid-September, suspected militants affiliated to the Jaish-e-Mohammed have killed three Government Force personnel in sniper attacks in Jammu Kashmir.
