March 14 The Jammu Kashmir High Court has stayed proceedings against Arnab Goswami, Republic TV editor-in-chief and three other Republic reporters in a defamation complaint filed against them by People’s Democratic Party leader Nayeem Akhtar in 2018. March 13 The Delhi police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a member of a banned militant outfit Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and an associate Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale. The accused Gursewak Singh (53), a member of Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and was planning to re-constitute his organization on directions of KCF chief Paramjeet Singh Panjwad, who was based in Pakistan, police said. Singh was also in touch with Jagtaar Singh Hawara and other terrorists lodged in various jails in India including Tihar jail, police said adding Gursewak was arrested by the crime branch from ISBT Delhi on March 12 where he had come to meet one of his contacts, as per a report published in PTI. Vehicle With 1000 Kilo Explosives ceased in Calcutta

March 09 A Huge quantity of explosive substances were seized from a vehicle in Chitpur area of the city, a senior Kolkata Police officer said on Saturday, NDTV reported. On Saturday, the Police acting upon a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle near Tala bridge on the BT Road in the capital of West Bengal in the wee hours of Saturday and seized 27 bags containing about 1,000 kg of potassium nitrate,the police officer said. Potassium nitrate is used in making explosives. Two persons - the driver and his helper have been arrested, he said. "The vehicle was coming from Odisha and was heading towards North 24 Parganas district. We have arrested the driver and the helper of the goods vehicle," the officer added.

March 09 A 16-year-old girl was allegedly stripped naked and her body cut with blade by a drug addict in Hyderabad, NDTV reported. The Drug addict filmed the act even as the girl, covered in blood, kept requesting him to stop the assault and let her go. The girl was rescued by locals after they heard her screams; the accused was beaten up before he was handed over to the police. The incident is reported to have taken place in Hyderabad's Gandhi Nagar on Thursday. Gandhi Nagar, which has a large number of students, has become infamous for drug-related incidents, say social workers.
