January 13 The Delhi Police has arrested two Kashmiri youth from New Delhi on Friday evening whom they claimed are in touch with Hizb Militant, Syed Naveed Mushtaq alias Naveed Babu. Detailing the arrests, the Delhi Police said that two Kashmiris, one identified as Kifayatullah Bukhari, a resident of Nowpora Shopian. They said during the checking of these two individuals, they revealed that they were in touch with Hizb commander Naveed Babu.   Syed Naveed Mushtaq, a Kashmiri policeman turned militant, who joined in early 2017. January 13 President of India Ramnath Kovind on Saturday has re-promulgated the "Muslim Women(Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance, commonly known as Triple Talaq Ordinance. The ordinance making Triple Talaq a criminal offence was first promulgated on September 20, 2018. Five Killed as Tractor Turns Turtle in Amritsar

January 12 Five persons were killed when a tractor met an accident in Punjab’s Amritsar district on Saturday, the police said. The incident took place in the morning at Vallah in Amritsar district when the tractor trolley carrying labourers was on its way to a construction site, Amritsar Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaspreet Singh. The front wheel of the tractor got dislodged and it overturned near a canal, he added. The police suspect that construction material including heavy iron pipes, which were being transported in the trolley when it overturned, may have inflicted serious injuries on the labourers leading to their deaths.

January 11 A debt ridden farmer has killed his wife and two children at Punjab's Armanpura village in the border district of Ferozpur, police said Friday. Accused Paramjit Singh Pamma, who owned six acres of land, was allegedly in debt, police said, adding that Pamma has been absconding after committing the crime on Thursday . He killed his wife Pinder Kaur (35), and two children — an 11-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy — while they were sleeping, police said. The matter is under investigation, officials said.

Five Women Are Raped Everyday in the City- Delhi Police

January 09 Five women were raped and eight were molested everyday on an average in the national capital last year, Delhi Police said Wednesday. According to Delhi Police data, 2,043 cases of rapes were registered last year as compared to 2,059 cases the year before that and 2,065 cases in 2016. Last year, 3,175 cases of molestation were reported as compared to 3,275 cases the year before and 4,032 cases in 2016. In most of the rape cases, the accused were known to the victim, police said.   According to Delhi Police analysis, 43 per cent of the accused in rape cases were either friends or family friends, 16.25 per cent were neighbours, 12.04 per cent were relatives, 2.89 per cent were co-workers, 22.86 per cent were other known persons.
