Rains Likely for Next 48 Hours in Kashmir, Parts of North India

At least 27 Amarnath Yatris have Died In the Ongoing Yatra

July 18 A 61-year-old woman, pilgrim from Maharashtra, died in the hospital today after being hit by a vehicle near the Saraswati Dham railway station on July 15. She was identified as Gaya Bhai Kaile. She succumbed to injuries last evening, the officials said. On the other hand, 18th batch of ''yatris'' with 1,983 pilgrims left Jammu today to join the annual Amarnath Yatra under tight security, officials said. The 60-day yatra to the cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,880 metres in the south Kashmir Himalayas, began on the twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal and Pahalgam in Islamabad district on June 28. 100 Militants, 43 Troopers Killed this Year

July 18 The Indian Union Minister Hansraj Ganagaram on Wednesday said that Hundred militants and 43 Government Force personnel were killed in Jammu Kashmir in the first six months of this year. Ahir, the minister of state for home, said 16 civilians were also killed during this period, which saw 256 incidents of violence. He was replying to a written question in Rajya Sabha. In 2017, 342 incidents of violence were reported in the state, in which 213 Militants were killed. A total of 80 Government Force personnel and 40 civilians were killed last year, Ahir said. As many as 82 security personnel, 15 civilians and 150 Militants were killed in the state in 2016, which witnessed 322 cases of violence, he said.

Russian Tourist Drugged and Raped in Tamil Nadu

July 18 A 21-year-old Russian lady was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in a service apartment on a visit to the pilgrimage town of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. As per Medical Reports she had bite marks on her face and hands and scratch marks on her upper body. The Medical report also confirmed sexual abuse. The Investigators have seized quantity of drugs from the spot. One of the six suspects told police he had accompanied the woman to the temple and ashram. He said she invited him to the apartment on Saturday night. The accused said they had consensual sex that night and the following day and claims that he found her unconscious when he returned to the apartment on Monday evening after going out to buy vegetables and fruits for her.

Modi Supporters Assault Policemen in West Bengal

July 17 BJP members thrashed Police personnel on the way to the rally of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday at West Bengal. Reports revealed that they were on their way to the PM rally, some of them that at Chowringhee area of Kharagpur, about 10 km away from the venue, beat up several policemen because their buses were stopped from reaching the venue. About 20 police officials including a security personnel of additional SP of Kharagpur Y Raghuvanshi had been injured in the attack. Minor Girl Sexually Assaulted by 15 people in Tamil Nadu

July 17 An 11-year-old girl was assaulted by around 15 people over a period of time at various places inside her apartment campus in Chennai, Reports said. The 12 year old student narrated the sequence of events after which the incident came into light of her parents who immediately filed a complaint with the Police. The mother of the girl in her report to the Police has accused 15 people of sexually assaulting her 12 year old daughter at various places inside the apartment campus. Police has started investigation in the matter and is on a manhunt to nab the accused.

4 Year old Raped by Swimming Instructor in Noida

July 15 A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a swimming instructor at a private school in Greater Noida, following which the accused was arrested on Saturday. The accused, Chandidas, raped the girl on Thursday evening while giving her swimming lessons at the school in Surajpur, Manoj Pant, the SHO of Surajpur police station, said. The girl later narrated her ordeal to the family members after which they lodged a case against the accused last night, he said, adding the accused was arrested.

Amarnath Pilgrim Found Dead in Srinagar

July  15 An Amarnath Yatra Pilgrim belonging to Jammu was found dead at Yatra Bhawan in Srinagar on Sunday. First Batch of Hajj Pilgrims Leaves for Saudi

July 14 To perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage, the first batch of 820 pilgrims from Jammu Kashmir left for Saudi Arabia on Saturday morning. Special buses were arranged which took the pilgrims from the Srinagar Hajj House in Bemina area to the Srinagar International airport early morning. The first flight carrying the pilgrims will return on 25th August and the last flight will come back on 7th September. Authorities informed that four Air India flights will be carrying them to Saudi Arabia. The last pilgrims are expected to leave on July 25. Over 10,000 pilgrims from Jammu Kashmir will perform this year’s Hajj. Earlier, an additional quota of 250 seats was allowed to the state by All India Hajj Committee.
