In a major success, Railway Police seized five pistols and ten empty cartridges from an unclaimed from a Jammu and Kashmir bound train in Pathankot. An official told news agency Kashmir Bulletin that an unknown bag was seized in Malwa train and during confiscation, the GRP team recovered five pistols and ten empty cartridges at Pathankot Cantonment Station. "The train, Malwa Express, was going from Delhi towards Jammu and Kashmir," the official said. "A case has been registered in this regard for further investigations," the official added. Several Muslim detainees held in Assam's Matia detention centre have rejected the government's claims that they are Bangladeshi nationals. The Assam government, in an affidavit, recently identified 63 detainees as Bangladeshis. Guwahati, Feb 22: Mahbubul Hoque, the Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), was detained by a police team in Guwahati early Saturday at around 2 AM. The operation was conducted by personnel from the Panbazar Police and the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police. Authorities have not yet disclosed specific charges against Hoque.
