Around 24,000 madrassas in Uttar Pradesh are currently undergoing rigorous scrutiny amid allegations of receiving foreign funds. The investigation primarily focuses on determining whether these funds were utilized for illicit purposes such as "terrorism or coercive religious conversions." The Centre on Friday gave a seven-day deadline to social media platforms to tweak their policies as per Indian regulations in order to address the spread of deepfakes on their platforms. Deepfakes could be subject to action under the current IT Rules, particularly Rule 3(1)(b), which mandates the removal of 12 types of content within 24 hours of receiving user complaints, said Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar. On October 17, 2023, in Mauja Nidhooli, Tehsil Dhaolana, Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, Muhammad Nadim bin Babu became the victim of an appalling assault perpetrated by a group of Hindu extremist individuals from the nearby village of Hay. Four of a Muslim family were murdered in Karnataka’s Udupi, Police said on Monday, adding that five special teams have been formed to nab the killer.
