23 College Students and Teachers Killed in a Bus Accident in Nepal

December 22 A bus carrying college students and their teachers back from an educational trip veered off a mountainous road and lunged into a ravine in Nepal, killing 23 people and injuring 14 others. The fatal crash occurred on Friday when the bus was returning from Kapurkot in Salyan district. According to the District Police Office, Dang, there were 37 persons 34 students, two teachers and a diver, on the ill-fated bus, which drove off the road and fell some 700 metres down near Ramri village, about 400 kilometres west of the capital Kathmandu. Fourteen persons, including five women, were injured in the incident. December 18 Six militants including a Taliban judge were killed after Afghan force aircraft attacked a Taliban hideout in Dawlat Abad district of the northern Faryab province on Monday, said an army statement released here Tuesday. "Mullah Rasoul the Taliban shadow judge for Faryab province was killed along with five armed insurgents after fighting aircraft targeted Taliban hideout in Firoza village of Dawlat Abad district on Monday afternoon," the statement asserted. The Facebook page of Weekly news Magazine, Free Press Kashmir (FPK), was barred by Facebook from its platform for a period of more than 48 hours, the page was back automatically. 145 White Whales Die in New Zealand

November 26 Up to 145 pilot whales that were stranded on a remote beach on the southern tip of New Zealand have died, the country's Department of Conservation (DOC) said on Monday. A hiker found the two pods late on Saturday on Stewart Island. Half of the whales were already dead by the time he arrived. The DOC decided to euthanize the remaining whales, DOC manager Ren Leppens said. The remote location and lack of nearby personnel meant successfully refloating the whales was highly unlikely.
