Section 144 Imposed in Kulgam

September 15 The authorities have imposed section 144 in parts of Kulgam district of South Kashmir following an encounter that raged in Czogam area of Kulgam early morning on Friday. Five Militants have been killed in the Encounter, all of them are believed to be locals. However despite section 144 being imposed people have gathered in large numbers near the encounter site in Czogam and in Sopat areas of Kulgam. Massive clashes are also going on in Churath area of Qazigund in Kulgam. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973 empowers an executive magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than four persons in an area.

September 15 Five Militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight at Matipora Czogam area of Qazigund area of South Kashmir's Kulgam early morning on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 9RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched a CASO in the area late night on Friday. During the CASO the holed up Militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight after which reinforcements were rushed to the spot. The Militants were holed up inside the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie near to Government Primary school in Czogam area of South Kashmir. Firing Resumes at Encounter Site in Qazigund

September 15 Firing has resumed at the gunfight site in Czogam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district early morning on Saturday, Police officials told The Kashmiriyat. ALSO READ: Kashmir Gunfight- 3 Militants Bodies Recovered, Search Ops Continue They said when the forces were conducting a search operation Militant opened fire from another house on the Government Forces. So far three Militant including a top commander of Hizb is believed to be trapped at the encounter site.

Intense Stone Throwing Clashes Erupt near Encounter Site

September 15 Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Cozgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. Three Militant bodies have been recovered from the gunfight site, official sources told The Kashmiriyat. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to immense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. People in large numbers from adjacent areas including Sopat are trying marching towards the encounter site.

Encounter Starts in Qazigund

September 15 An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in Chowgam of Qazigund area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. 2-3 Militants are believed to be trapped in the area, Local sources told The Kashmiriyat. Kulgam Man Assaults Girl Inside his Shop

September 12 A Man named Sabzar Ahmed was arrested after Police found him sexually assaulting a girl inside his shop in Bongam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Wednesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the a local reported to the Kulgam Police station that a girl was being sexually assaulted inside a tailor shop, the police took swift action and raided the spot. September 07 Nocturnal raids were conducted in Ghat area of Redwani in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam district late night on Thursday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that forces entered the Redwani and Rehpora villages of Quimoh belt and arrested two youth during the raids conducted during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
