Mirwaiz Qazi yasir condemns Attacks on Militant families, Says Kashmiris Stand with them

August 30 The Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir has  condemned the harassment of the families of Militants throughout South Kashmir. He said that the Militant families should not be targeted for the beliefs of their kith and kin. "It is regretting to see how Militant families are being harassed for the past few weeks, this is nothing, but inhumane," Mirwaiz Yasir said. Youth Shot by Forces for not stopping at Check Post in Kulgam

August 29 A youth identified as Mudasir Ahmed has been shot by Government Forces outside their camp at Behbagh camp in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that that soldiers from 34 RR of Indian Army fired upon a biker allegedly after he did not stop at the Behibagh check point. The youth has been identified the youth as Mudasir Ahmed Thokar, a resident of Kadder Kulgam. Officials confirmed the incident to The Kashmiriyat and said that Mudasir was was driving at a very high speed and didn’t stop at two check points. Mudasir has been shifted to Srinagar Hospital for treatment.

Intense Stone Throwing Clashes Erupt at Khudwani

August 29 Intense Clashes have erupted between youth and Government Forces in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Wednesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth shouting pro Freedom and pro Islam slogans threw stones on Government Forces. ALSO READ: Altaf Kaczroo Among Killed Militants, Operation over-Officials The Forces fired aerial shots and tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting youth, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Youth in large numbers hit the streets after the news of death of a popular commander, Altaf Kaczroo spread through the area. Restrictions Imposed in Islamabad (Anantnag), Internet, Train Services Suspended

August 29 Stiff restrictions have been imposed in Islamabad township as all the roads leading to the township have been blocked with concertina wires with forces patrolling all the main roads. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that roads have been blocked with barbered wires near Ashajipora, Janglat Mandi, Khanabal and a few other places. Mobile Internet services have also been suspended in the twin districts of South Kashmir, Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) after a massive gunfight raged in Muniwar area of Islamabad (Anantnag). Three Militants are believed to be killed at the gunfight site including a top commander of Militant outfit, Hizb ul Mujahideen. The Authorities have also suspended Train services to South Kashmir from Srinagar

Forces Vandalize the house of a Militant in Quimoh

August 28 The Government Forces allegedly ransacked the house of a Militant Parvez Ahmed Bhat in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. A Family member while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that forces barged into the house and ransacked the household items and smashed the glasses inside the house. "We are not even sure if he has joined militants, why are we being harassed even if he has joined militancy?" a family member asked appealing Parvez to return home. The family alleged that the forces behaved inhumanely and also abused the inmates before they left the house after they destroyed property inside the house. Wedding Turns into Mourning- Bride Dies of a Heart Attack in Qazigund

August 27 SHEIKH NADEEM The celebrations at a marriage ceremony turned into a mourning on Monday when a bride died of heart attack in Qazigund area of South Kashmir. Locals informed The Kashmriyat that the marriage party was in full swing when the bride collapsed suddenly at her residence in Waltengoo area of Kund in Qazigund of South Kashmir. The bride was rushed to the nearby hospital at Razaloo from where she was referred to Qazigund hospital, however she succumbed on the way to the hospital. The deceased bride has been identified as Rafiqa daughter of Rajwali Deeda, a resident of Waltengoo- Nard, Kund in South Kashmirs Qazigund area. (The Kashmiriyat)

Clashes Erupt in GDC Kulgam as Supreme Court Hears Fresh Petition Against 35A

August 27 Intense Clashes Erupted in Government Degree college Of Kulgam District of South Kashmir over the attempts to revoke Article 35A. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that scores of students shouting slogans in favour of Article 35a hit the streets. The supreme court of India today is hearing a fresh petition challenging the special status of Jammu Kashmir, the fresh petition filed by BJP Spokesman, Ashwini Upadhyay. The students hurled stones on Government Forces deployed in the area, triggering clashes. The forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse protesting students. Clashes were going on when this report was filed.

CASO Launched in Kulgam Area

August 26 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in the Paniwah area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Sunday  morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Government Forces including RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a joint Anti Militancy operation in the area following specific input about Militant presence in the Paniwah area. Locals said that a heavy contingent of Forces have reached the area and are conducting a search operation in the area. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.

Is Journalism a Crime? Journalist Manhandled in Islamabad while Doing a Story

August 25 A journalist named Deen Imran who reports for Munsif TV was manhandled by some unknown persons in District Hospital of Islamabad in South Kashmir. Deen Imran, who was covering visuals of the injured persons allegedly assaulted by Government Forces in Redwani area of Kulgam was manhandled by a few youth. "I was just doing my professional duty and i did not intend to harm anyone, why are we facing the wrath of all sides, the Government Forces assault us and so do the youth," Deen Imran told The Kashmiriyat over phone. Imran said that he was also verbally abused and physically assaulted by the youth, when he was on his journalistic duty.
