Dangling electric wires pose threat to lives in Shopian area

Dangling electric wires tied with trees and worn-out wooden poles are posing a grave threat to the lives of people and their properties in the Sangran area of Imamsahib hamlet in south Kashmir's Shopian district. The residents of the area told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they are living under constant fear due to low-lying electric wires tied with trees and decaying electric poles. 53 dengue cases reported in J-K so far this year: Official

Dengue cases are going to rise as monsoon culminates in Jammu and Kashmir with 53 cases reported this year so far. State Surveillance Officer, Dr Harjeet Rai told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that this year, 53 cases of dengue have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir including 3 from Kashmir division. Officials told KNO that dengue cases are projected to surge post monsoon in Jammu and Kashmir and advised people to take ‘preemptive measures’ to combat the painful mosquito-borne disease in the absence of any vaccine. Female dead body recovered in Ganderbal’s Nallah Sindh

Shah Basit A female dead body was recovered by locals from Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday morning locals spotted a female dead body in the Nalla Sindh at Pathribal near Rayal Gund area of teh central Kashmir district. The locals called the Police after recovering the body and handed it over to the Police, the official said. He added that the body has been taken to the hospital for medico legal formalities and proper identification.

The family members of a man from Srinagar have appealed to the general public and the Police to help them trace their kin. Suhail Dar One person dies and two others injured when a motorcycle collided with  a tipper in Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday afternoon one bike bearing the number JK15 4617 was hit by a speedy tipper (JK03M-1190) collided with a bike (JK15-4617) at Doonipora Sangam in Bijbehara, causing injuries to three persons. The injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospital where one Mehraj u Din son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Sumbal Sonawari in Bandipora was declared brought dead upon arrival. The other two are being treated at the hospital, they said.

Eye flu cases rise to 17,000 in Jammu Kashmir

The hospitals in Jammu Kashmir continue to receive patients complaining of irritation, redness, swelling and itching in their eyes. The doctors from both Kashmir and Jammu divisions told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that more cases of conjunctivitis, popularly known as ‘eye flu’, are on the rise. They, however, said there is no need to worry as it goes in around one to two weeks for whoever gets affected. An official from the Directorate of Health Services Jammu told KNO that 10,760 cases of conjunctivitis were reported in Jammu division including GMC Jammu.
