Meer Irfan The  preacher from south Kashmir who had been missing since the last week has been found dead in the Zirpoara area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. Earlier the family of one Mohammad Ashraf Shah, son of Abdul Aziz Shah resident of Behbagh Kulgam had said that Ashraf had gone missing from his home on Friday morning. "He left home but didn't come back until now. We have been trying to call him constantly since. The Police also traced the location of his phone and reached the spot of the location, but to no avail" the family member had said. The family members had appealed to him to return back. A male body was found along the banks of river Jhelum near Zirpara Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday. Official sources told GNS that some passersby informed the police about the laying of the body along the banks of the Jhelum. Soon, they said, a police party rushed to the spot and recovered the body. So far, they said, the identity of the deceased could be found and the same is being carried out. The body, they said, has been shifted to mortuary at GMC Anantnag. “After completing medico-legal formalities and confirming the identification, the body would be handed over to his legal heirs,” they added. A man from Srinagar has been arrested on Monday for allegedly providing scooty to active militant, Police said. Official Sources said that Umer Muhtar Naqeeb son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Natipora in Srinagar was arrested for providing a second-hand scooty to an active militant named Moomin Gulzar on 27 July, 2022. Pertinently, the scooty was recovered along with arms/ammunition/explosives/clothes/other incriminating material during an encounter in Nowhatta.

For the second time in four years, Internet and mobile services remained unaffected in Jammu and Kashmir on Independence Day. These services used to be snapped on Independence Day and Republic Day as part of the security drill. Even data services were blocked, mobile phone services, were also suspended for the duration of the Independence Day ceremony. Suspension of mobile phone services and internet on cellular devices as part of the security drill in Jammu and Kashmir had become routine since 2005.
