A huge part of the Sun broke off of its surface and created a tornado-like swirl around its North Pole. Even though researchers are working to understand how it happened, a purported video of the event has shocked the space community. Admin notifies 28 hotels allegedly built on state land for eviction in Sonmarg

The authorities have issued a list of hotels that have been raised illegally in the Sonamarg & Gagangir area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, which has created panic among the hoteliers at the central Kashmir health resort. 99,000 cash, three cellphones looted from truck bound Kashmiris in Delhi

Meer Irfan Three truck-bound Kashmiris were robbed of 99,000 rupees and three mobile phones in Delhi's Azadpur Mandi on Sunday morning. Two residential houses damaged in Noorbagh blaze

At least two residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Guzarbal area of Noorbagh in summer capital Srinagar on Monday morning. Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that two residential houses were gutted in a fire incident in the Guzarbal area this morning. They said that fire tenders doused the flames on time and prevented any further damage. However, there was no loss of life or injury reported in this incident. A police officer also confirmed the fire mishap and said, cognizance of the incident has been taken, and the cause of fire was not immediately known, however investigation has been set into motion. Newborn found abandoned in washroom of Sopore hospital

On Wednesday a new-born baby was found abandoned in sub-district hospital Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district even as police have registered a case in this regard. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an unidentified woman delivered a female baby and left it abandoned in the washroom of the hospital during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. "The parents of the baby couldn’t be located till now, while the baby has been laid to rest and an inquiry into matter has been initiated,” he said. Earth's average surface temperature in 2022 tied with 2015 as the fifth warmest year on record, according to an analysis by US space agency NASA, which termed the situation as "alarming". The global temperatures in 2022 were 1.6-degree Fahrenheit (0.89-degree Celsius) above the average for NASA's baseline period (1951-1980), scientists from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York reported. "This warming trend is alarming. The minimum temperature recorded a slight drop at most places but hovered above normal even as fog engulfed parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that fog significantly reduced visibility in Srinagar, Qazigund, and Jammu. However, he said that the visibility will be improved as the day progresses. Meanwhile, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 1.8°C against last night’s 0.9°C.
