Stone Pelting Clashes in Achabal Area

April 18 Waris Shah Intense Clashes began on Tuesday Evening in Achabal area of Islamabad in South Kashmir. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that scores of youth istarted throwing stones on a Local Police Post in the area. The troops chased away the protesting youth. However the clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Freedom Party Pays Tributes to Qazi Nisar

June 18 Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP on Monday paid rich and glowing tributes to Islamic Scholar and Ummat-E-Islami Chief, Dr Qazi Nissar Ahmad on his 24th death anniversary. Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmad, one of the founders of Muslim United Front (MUF) was killed by unidentified gunmen in Dialgam village of Islamabad on June 19, 1994. Paying glowing tributes to the slain leader, a JKDF said that Dr Qazi Nisar was a great religious scholar and a patriot who always laid emphasis on the unity of Ummah. Complete Shutdown in South Kashmir Tomorrow

June 18 The Ummat e Islami has called for a complete shutdown in South Kashmir on the anniversary of slain Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar Ahmed on Tuesday. The Ummat e Islami has asked people to observe a complete shutdown tomorrow against his killing. As Per a press release, a rally will be taken out to commemorate the anniversary of the Dr. Qazi Nisar from Jamia Masjid tomorrow at 1:30 pm. Ummat e Islami asked people to observe complete shutdown tomorrow. Dr. Qazi Nisar was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in 1994, on 19 June.  

Suspected Militant arrested in Mir Bazar

April 21 A suspected Militant was arrested Saturday night by a patrolling party of Government Forces in Mir Bazar area of South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the man was arrested with an Ak47 rifle and a 9 Mm pistol. The person was detained after troops had laid a patrol following a specific input about Militant movement in the area, while one of his colleague managed to escape from the spot. Gunshots Heard during CASO in Pulwama

April 21 Jahangeer Ganie A few gunshots have been heard during a Cordon and Search Operation in Karimabad area of Pulwama District in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir police and CRPF had launched a CASO in the area. Following specific inputs about the presence of militants, the CASO was launched, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Meanwhile local sources informed The Kashmiriyat that a few gunshots have been heard. Local sources said that the clashes erupted at main chowk Sopore after students of High School Jamia Qadeem Sopore held a peaceful protest rally inside the school premises. April 21 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered cannabis in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. As Per Police official, Acting on a tip-off, a Naka (checkpoint) was set up at Paribal crossing Aloosa in Bandipora district. The Naka party challenged a person and during his search, 620 grams of powdered form of cannabis was recovered from his possession. The Person has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Nathpora, Bandipora. He was arrested immediately.

April 21 Police on Saturday used Smoke shells and batons to disperse the protesting Anganwari workers and helpers demanding release of pending wages and regularization of their services. Hundreds of workers and helpers are on strike for the past three months demanding regularization of services and early release of their pending wages. The Anganwadi workers earlier assembled at Eidgah Beehama and later marched towards the DC office to press the government over their demands. They later held a sit-in on Beehama-Safapora road and blocked the road and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
