April 07 Pakistan fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has entered into the Twitter battle on Saturday when he condemned the recent killings in south Kashmir. In his tweet, Akhtar said, “Finally Salman gets a relief from honourable court I wish 1 day in my life time i get a news of Kashmir Palestine Yemen Afghanistan & all the troubled area of the world are free bcoz my heart bleeds for humanity & loss of innocent life.” This comes after Shahid Khan Afridi’s two tweets created ripples worldwide. Earlier, Afridi had also tweeted condemning the recent killings in Kashmir.

Shutdown continues in Kangan Town against killings

April 07 Rayees Shah A spontaneous shutdown is being observed in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district against the killing of a local youth in police action. All shops, business establishments, and educational institutions are closed while public transport is off the roads. Reports said that the police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in strength in the area to thwart any protests. A local youth, Gowhar Ahmad Rather (22), succumbed at SKIMS Soura on Tuesday. He was admitted to the hospital after being seriously injured in police action on Monday. Jammu and Kashmir Police has suspended constable Gulzar Ahmad who allegedly shot Rather. The locals and family members of Rather are, however, demanding that the accused be dismissed from the service.

Darkness During Day in Delhi

April 07 Day virtually turned into night as darkness in the form of heavy clouds invaded the National Capital on Friday in the middle of the afternoon. Strong winds with thick dust blew relentlessly across the city before giving way to thunder and lighting and then finally some rain. The average citizen was caught unawares in the middle of the sudden dust storm. The storm brought down the normal visibility to a considerable low, affecting the flight schedules and disrupting the road traffic. The flights arriving in and departing from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were delayed up to one hour, while 24 flight had to be diverted out of Delhi due to the bad weather.

The RR Of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched the operation, Officials told The Kashmiriyat. Massive Clashes Erupt in Pulwama

April 07 (Image Used for Representation) Massive clashes have erupted in main town Pulwama where people marched with the body of Slain Musavir, killed last yesterday in a brief encounter between militants and government forces. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Musavir's body was being taken for burial in the graveyard near main town where heavy deployment of forces was placed. Stone pelting youth clashed with police who resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse people. Musavir was a resident of Daligam pulwama. Clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Thousands Defy Restrictions to Offer Funeral to Musavir

April 07 Skinder Gul Thousands of people from various parts of South Kashmir on Saturday defied restrictions to reach Dalipora in Pulwama. "People from as far as Srinagar came to offer funeral prayers of slain Musavir today morning," a participant told The Kashmiriyat. Men and women in large numbers gathered outside his house from where his body was marched to a ground in the area, where his funeral was offered at least 4 times, he said. Musavir was finally laid to rest amid pro Freedom and Pro Militancy Slogans. Musavir was killed in a brief gunfight on Friday in kangan area of Pulwama.

Clashes Erupted in Srinagar’s Nowgam

April 06 Massive Clashes erupted in Nowgam area of Srinagar on Friday to denounce the Shopian Killings. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that clashes erupted between government forces and Protesters in the Nowgam area after Friday prayers. The Youth in the area gathered and threw stones on the Government troopers deployed in the area. The troopers deployed in the area fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.

Kulgam Policeman Extorted Money from Locals, Arrested

April 06 A Jammu Kashmir Police Personnel of Kulgam was arrested today on charges of extorting money from Locals in Kulgam District of South Kashmir. As per Police three people headed by Armed Policeman, Parvez Bhat, Son of Mohammed Maqbool Bhat, Ponew Kulgam of South Kashmir’s Kulgam was arrested today. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that he has been arrested along with two other people as they used to make people sign cheques and extorted money on Gunpoint from Civilians. The Policeman has been serving the department for the past twelve years.  Bilal Ahmed Dar Son of Ghulam Mohuddin Dar of Ganjipora, Kulgam and  Nazir Dar of Yarikha Kulgam has also been detained. The DSP HQ of South Kashmir’s Kulgam confirmed that the three have been arrested on the charges of extortion.

Srinagar Leh highway opens for vehicular movement after 4 Months

A miss communication between District administration Ganderbal and Border Roads organization. (BRO) took place on Friday over opening of the Srinagar-Leh highway.
