The administration's decision to combine MBBS and post-graduate seats in the all-India quota beginning with the current session has been contested by the medical students in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu Kashmir admin recently ordered that 50% of PG course seats and 15% of MBBS seats will be shared in the All India Quota (AIQ), evoking sharp criticism from medical students. The students said that by enrolling non-local medical students in undergraduate and graduate programmes the admin is risking the future of local medical students. Police arrested four accused and recovered stolen cash and gold from them in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Local news agency Kashmir News Trust reported. The theft incident had occurred during the intervening night of 18 and 19 this month in the two houses belonging to Ashiq Ahmad Mir and Muzafar Ahmad Famda, both residents of Kullan area of Gund Kangan. After registration of case and subsequent investigation by police station Gund, police arrested four accused out of which three hail from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Police in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have attached a residential house for wilfully sheltering and harbouring militants after obtaining sanction from competent authority. In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that police attached the residential house of one person namely Bashir Ahmad Mir of Wanpora Gurez at present Watrina after obtaining legal sanction from the competent authorities.
