Jammu’s largest wholesale grocery bazaar to use Sanskrit language as medium of business communication

In a first of its kind, the largest wholesale market of Jammu Kashmir, which apart from fulfilling the grocery needs of the entire Jammu division also served to Kashmir and Ladakh, has decided to use ancient Sanskrit language as a medium of communication for business and issue bills in the same language. In November, nine militants including infiltrators killed in JK

At least four cow sheds gutted in Anantnag fire incident

Suhail Dar At least four cowsheds were damaged in a massive blaze at the Tulbagh area of Shangus in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday four cow-sheds belonging to Abdul Majeed Khan and Mohammed Rafiq Khan, sons of Mohammed Ayoub Khan, were gutted in a massive fire mishap. They said that fire tenders along with locals and Police tried to control the fire, however, when the fire was brought under control, dour sheds had been gutted. A pet dog was also charred to death during the blaze, they told The Kashmiriyat. The cause of the fire is being ascertained, an official said.

IED planted in mini-bus in Ramban recovered, detonated: Police

The Jammu Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have recovered and defused an Improvised Explosive Device planted in a mini-bus in Ramban district. In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said on a reliable input a joint team of police, CRPF and Army established a check point at Nashri. The statement reads during checking a mini-bus was intercepted and passengers were de-boarded from the vehicle safely. It added the vehicle was thoroughly searched and during search, one suspicious bag was recovered which was further checked and an IED was found. Police announces reward for informing on militant ‘involved in killing of Kashmiri Pandit’ in Shopian

SGPC warns against tattoos of Sikh religious symbols or Gurbani verses

The SGPC has warned those who plan to get a tattoo of Sikh religious symbols or Gurbani verses on any part of their body, as per a report by The Tribune. The report states that the Akal Takht has already put a blanket ban on Sikh religious tattooing and pronounced an edict in June. Meteorological department here on Saturday forecast isolated to scattered light rain and snow in Jammu Kashmir during next 24 hours. An official of the weather department here told GNS that mainly dry weather was expected thereafter till November 26. The MeT office has already ruled out the possibility of major snowfall till the end of this month.
