A 27-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances after allegedly being beaten by police, leading to protests by his relatives and neighbors on Monday. Shubam Sharma, a resident of Bantalab on Jammu’s outskirts, was reportedly playing cricket near his home when police raided the area on Sunday evening in search of drug traffickers. Sharma’s family claims he was detained and severely beaten by the police before they left the scene. Sharma was taken to the hospital but died shortly after. The family said his body is now at the hospital's mortuary for a postmortem examination.
