Ismat Siddiqui, the mother of Dr Aafia Siddiqui jailed in a US prison, died on Saturday. A spokesperson for the Aafia Movement Pakistan, Mohammed Ayub, was quoted by Dawn newspaper as saying, that the 80 year old was suffering from kidney and breathing problems. Her funeral prayers were offered at a local mosque in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Authorities on Saturday sealed seven private dental clinics, three private laboratories and one X-Ray lab in Mendhar area of this district for running either without registration or their registration having been expired. Block Medical Officer Mendhar Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan along with Naib Tehsildar Mendhar Mukesh Singh sealed the clinics. National Investigation Agency on Tuesday said that it arrested two accused persons involved in Cross LoC Trade and Militancy Funding Case in Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Left on our own’: Kashmiri Hajis complain of ‘no facilities’ during Holy pilgrimage

2 dead bodies including one of girl missing since June 12 recovered

Police have recovered two dead bodies at two different places in Srinagar and Kulgam districts. The dead body of 20-year-old youth identified as Adil Ahmed Sheikh son of Shabir Ahmed of Parimpora has been recovered from Shalteng Bund. Police in this regard have registered a case at the police station Parimpora area of Srinagar. Another dead body was retrieved from Waishov Nallah near Bethpora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A police official said that girl had gone missing after the incessant rains and today her dead body was recovered. She is the local of Nasnoor village of Aharbal. Burglars break into 3 shops in Srinagar city, police assure swift action

Shopkeepers at Forest Lane of Srinagar city Thursday claimed that burglars looted ready-made garments worth lakhs from the three shops during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Tourist guide feared dead, 13 people including 11 sightseers stuck along Tarsar Lake

A tourist guide is feared dead while 11 sightseers and two other guides are trapped near banks of Tarsar Lake in south Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. Official sources told GNS that a group of 14 people including 11 tourists and three guides –Mohammad Ishaq Lone, Tariq Ahmad, both residents of Pahalgam, and Shakeel Ahmad of Gagangeer Ganderbal were on sightseeing near Tarser Lake. One of the guides, Shakeel Ahmad is feared drowned in the lake, they said. “The other people are stuck near the bank of the river,” they said. Subsequent to the information, a rescue team has been dispatched by police Pahalgam to retrieve the trapped persons, they said. “Further details are awaited,” they added. (GNS)

Teams constituted to evacuate trapper families in high altitudes of Kounsarnag

A number of migratory families have been stuck in the high altitudes of South Kashmir’s Kulgam while authorities have dispatched rescue teams to evacuate them. The families have been trapped after the inclement weather in the high altitudes of Kounsarnag. Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr Bilal said that he received distress calls from migratory families stuck in high altitude Kausarnag in Kulgam and accordingly teams were constituted and sent with necessary relief materials including blankets, and waterproof covers, and food items. He said teams will reach there after trekking for 30 kilometers. (KNT)

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday said they have attached Five (5) houses in central Kashmir's district Srinagar for using them in the purpose of militancy, officials said. Police spokesperson in a statement said that today on 21st June 21, five (05) residential Houses of wilful harbourers of militants were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of UAP Act. “These are the houses where it has been proved beyond doubt that these houses were used for purpose of militancy and the shelter/harbour was voluntarily/knowingly given by the member (s) of the house.
