The Jammu Kashmir administration is set to reopen the cases of militant-activities in the Valley involving former militants, separatists etc in which evidence can be gathered. The Home Department of the Manoj Sinha-led administration is actively considering all such cases and will take a call shortly depending on the merits, Dalit Excelsior reported. North Korean drone with payload shot down by police team in JK’s Kathua

Jammu and Kashmir police Sunday claimed to have shot down a North Korean drone which is having a payload attached to it, Officials said. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that on the basis of drone activity observed in the area of Talli Hariya chak under police station Rajbag in district Kathua, an early morning search party of police was being regularly sent in the general area. "Today early morning, the search party observed a North Korea drone coming from the border side and fired at it," police said. Police added that the drone was shot down and is found to have a payload attachment with it which is being screened by the bomb disposal experts—(KNO)

Kashmiri Pandits want medical seats in HP Dharamshala

Kashmiri Pandits are upset that the Himachal Pradesh government has drastically reduced the number of seats in government medical colleges for students from the community. Ashok Raina, a social activist, told UNI that after the Pandits fled the Kashmir Valley in the last 1980s, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray reserved seats for the community in every engineering and medical colleges of Maharashtra besides other institutions. The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its concerns over the charges and the amount of punishment granted to the Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik. Night temperature recorded a fall in the twin capitals of J&K and world famous Gulmarg resort following overnight rainfall, officials said on Saturday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar received 12.2 mm of rain in 24 hours till 8:30 a.m. today and recorded a low of 13.2°C against 13.6°C on the previous night. A CBI court in Jammu and Kashmir has issued summons to Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, to appear before it on July 15 in a case related to her abduction in 1989, officials said on Friday. A day after a Delhi court awarded life imprisonment to Yasin Malik in a militant funding case, Tihar prison authorities here on Thursday said the separatist leader has been kept in a separate cell under heavy security. "For security reasons, Mailk may not be assigned any work in the jail. He has been kept in a separate cell in jail number seven under heavy security.
