A youth was arrested with a grenade during a naka checking in Bemina area of summer-capital Srinagar on Wednesday evening, police said. A police officer told GNS that one Zubair Altaf Shiekh son of Mohammad Altaf Shiekh, a resident of 90 Feet Soura Srinagar on way towards Hamandia Colony was intercepted by a naka party at Bemina Chowk. “During his frisking, the police party recovered one Chinese hand grenade from his possession”, he said, adding, "the accused was instantly arrested and a case vide FIR number 15/22 u/s 7/25, 13 of ULA registered in this regard." In a bid to eradicate drug menace from the society, the divisional administration Kashmir on Wednesday said that six drugs counselling centres have been made available in different districts. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir P K Pole, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that besides coming up with drugs counselling centres, adequate contractual employees have been made available at hospitals for counselling of the youth involved in drug addiction. “These youth are victims. A helper sustained injures after the GREF dozer on road clearance duty Tuesday plunged into Check Nallah of Gurez in North Kashmir's Bandipora. Official sources told GNS that a GREF dozer helper identified as Mohammad Shafi, 38, a resident of Markoot area received injuries after the dozer slipped into Check Nallah, Gurez. Jammu police have recovered arms and ammunition in Safakadal area of summer capital Srinagar, official sources said on Tuesday. Minor dies after falling into pit in Kupwara

A 2-year-old boy died after falling into a pit in Batergam in north Kashmir's Kupwara district this afternoon. Reports reaching GNS said that a child namely Sabzar Ahmad Shiekh son of Fayaz Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Shiekh Mohalla Batergam fell into a pit whereupon he was rescued by locals and taken to Sub-district hospital Kupwara for treatment. Unemployment rate for persons of age 15 years and above in urban areas dropped to 12.6 per cent in April-June 2021 from 20.8 per cent in the same month of the previous year, showed a periodic labour force survey by the National Statistical Office (NSO). The Government of India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme implementation in its latest Periodic Labour Force Survey stated that unemployment figures among educated youth in Jammu Kashmir have reached a staggering 46.3 per cent.
