Voter turnout hits 45.22 per cent by 3 PM; Highest in four decades

Jammu Kashmir’s Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency recorded a voter turnout of more than 45 per cent till 3 pm on Monday, already registering its highest polling percentage in the last 40 years. The overall polling percentage of 45.22 this time is second only to the 58.84 per cent turnout the constituency saw in 1984. A meteorological department official said that the city recorded a minimum temperature of 7.0°C, compared to 8.2°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.9°C below normal for this time of year. Amnesty to domestic electricity users extended in Kashmir

The Power Development Department in Jammu Kashmir has extended an amnesty scheme for domestic electricity consumers, as reported by Daily Excelsior. M S Malik, Director General of Finance at the Power Development Department, has issued an order to prolong the Amnesty Scheme for domestic consumers for another year, now running until March 31, 2025, pending approval by the competent authority. However, the extended concurrence granted by the Finance Department is subject to additional conditions beyond those outlined in Government order no 103-PDD of 2022 dated September 12, 2022. Three persons booked under PSA for ‘anti-national’ activities

Three persons have been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in "anti-national" activities. According to police, three Bandipora residents were arrested and subsequently booked under the PSA for their "continuous" involvement in Anti-National activities.
