Rohingya child dies at detention centre in Jammu, Jailed parents brought handcuffed to attend funeral

A Rohingya couple jailed at the Hiranagar detention center in Jammu was brought handcuffed for the last rites of their child who died in a refugee detention centre near Jammu. A video of the handcuffed parents at the burial site has been widely shared on social media. The 43-day-old baby died at a refugee "holding centre" where clashes broke out between inmates and police earlier this week, NDTV reported. Several people, including three policemen and Rohingyas, were reportedly injured during clashes. ‘Attempts to divide the country’, Complaint filed against hindi film ’72 Hoorain’

A Mumbai-based social activist has submitted a written complaint to the police against the makers of Hindi film “72 Hoorain”, accusing them of hurting religious sentiments of a community and attempting to divide the country, an official said on Wednesday. According to the official, the complaint was filed at the Goregaon police station in suburban Mumbai. The activist has submitted a separate complaint to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking a ban on the screening of the movie, his lawyer Ali Kashif Khan said. The movie, directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, is slated to hit theatres on July 7. Female molested at Zanana park in Baramulla, two arrested, says police

Several chinar trees, which line the iconic Polo View Road in Srinagar, have been lopped by the authorities as part of the Smart City project, leading to an outcry by environmental activists, reported PTI. The authorities defended the move saying it was done following the set procedure. The Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University Professor Nilofer Khan has said that she took up the matter related to setting up examination centers in Kashmir for the candidates of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) with senior authorities in the J-K administration. Woman allegedly hangs self to death in Kulgam village
