On Monday, the former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu Kashmir and the PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, wrote to the Press Council of India urging them "to send a fact-finding team to J&K, to independently verify" the claims of "intimidation, snooping and harassment of journalists" in the erstwhile state and "take remedial action." In the letter, Mehbooba begins by mentioning the recent "raids that were conducted by police at homes of several journalists in Kashmir earlier this month."
