‘Two Foreign Militants Behind the Killing’- IGP Visits the Family of Slain Cop in Awantipora

The Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Monday visited Hariparigam Village of Awantipora and expressed condolences with the family of SPO Fayaz Ahmad. SPO Fayaz Ahmad, his wife Raja Begum and their daughter Rafiya(23) were killed in firing by suspected militants at their home late last night. "Targeting family members ( wife & daughter) is a barbaric act and only cowards can do it," the IGP said. He said that two militants of the Militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad are behind the killing. SSP Awantipora and other senior officers of the district accompanied the IGP during the visit.(GNS)

On Tuesday local administration evicted Gujjar families from ‘migrant property’ allegedly belonging to a Kashmir Pandit in Ramnagri area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The Gujjar community showed resistance, however, the Revenue team protected by police managed to take possession of the land comprising over 11 kanals. A 23-year-old youth has gone missing from his home in the Karimabad area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Based on a specific input a joint team of Jammu Kashmir Police, Army 42 RR and CRPF 180 BN cordoned and searched an area near Simoah Nallah of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. According to a Police press release, after digging the suspected spot; the joint party of Police, Army, CRPF recovered a plastic container of approximately 50-60 Ltrs capacity containing IED material. The press release added that approximately 40 to 50 Kg of Gun Powder Amunium Powder, 02 Electric Detonators, four metres of Cordex Wire and 100 metres of electric Command were recovered from the scene. Samples of the recovered explosive material are taken for forensic examination.
