One Militant Killed in Ongoing Gunfight in Pulwama- Internet Suspended

Mehran Bhat One Militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter between government forces and Militants in the Ghat Mohalla Kakapora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat earlier 50 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Ghat Mohalla of Kakpora in Pulwama. During the CASO, the militants hiding in the area, opened fire, which triggered an encounter. During the encounter, one militant has been killed whose is yet to be identified, the official said. He said that militants turned down repeated surrender offers given to them by government forces. Meanwhile internet services have been snapped in police district Pulwama.

Nocturnal Encounter Rages in Samboora Area of Pulwama

An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in the Samboora area of district Pulwama in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that 50 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force launched an Anti Militancy operation in the Samboora Pulwama. During the searches, the hiding Militants opened fire upon the Government Force personnel, triggering an encounter. As per initial reports two to three militants are holed up in the area, as more Forces are being rushed to the area. The forces have sealed the entry and exit points to the area. As per locals, no firing has been heard after the initial exchange of gunfire, however massive searches are on, as two to three Militants are believed to be hiding in the area.

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday attached the house of Shakir Bashir Magrey and Insha Jan in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The duo were arrested by the premier investigation agency in two separate operations in February and March last year and were named in the NIA charge sheet in the Pulwama Fidayeen attack case. “Teams of NIA led by SSP NIA Rakesh Balwal, IPS reached Pulwama this morning and along with local Police, they attached the house of Shakir Bashir Magrey and Insha Jan in Kakapora and areas respectively,” the official said. Suspected militants triggered off a low intensity improvised explosive device (IED) in Dangerpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, officials said. However, they said there was no loss of life or injury reported in the explosion which took place at Dangerpora area. A senior police officer told GNS that the small sized IED was placed near a shop ” there was no loss of life or injury in the incident,” he said. The area, he said, has been cordoned off and further investigations have been taken up.

Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a militant hideout in the Seer/Pastrana area of South Kashmir's Awantipora. In a statement to GNS, the Police said that Upon information of militant hideout in the forest area of Seer/ Pastoona, Police along with 42 RR and 180 Bn CRPF launched a search operation in the said area. During the searches, one hideout of outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was busted and subsequently destroyed. The size of the hideout is approximately 5 ft × 7ft ×4 ft. The Government Forces claimed to have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the 42 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police raided a location in Laroo Jageer area of Tral in Pulwama later on Sunday during which one militant associate was detained along with a hand grenade. The official identified the detained youth as Muzammil Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat a resident of Tral in Pulwama who was also working at the toll Plaza in Awantipora. The Jammu Kashmir Police has lodged an FIR and started an investigation into the matter.
