Water Levels Recede- Crucial Days Ahead As Level is Still Above Danger Mark

July 01 The Water levels are receding in the Kashmir valley after the Administration had declared floods in the Southern and central parts of Kashmir valley. The latest gauge readings recorded in South Kashmir at 4 pm were 16.99 feet, in central at 18.96 feet and in North Kashmir at 13.25 feet. The water is still flowing above danger mark as crucial days await ahead with weather expected to be wet in the coming day. As per the weather forecast, weather is likely to remain wet from Monday afternoon for the next two days.

June 29 Sanam Lotus, the head of MeT Department Jammu Kashmir has said that the weather is likely to improve from tomorrow in the Kashmir valley. Sonam Lotus while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that he had warned the authorities of a flood threat, which is real. He asked the people living nearby rivers to stay vigil till tomorrow. Meanwhile waters levels have been drastically rising, The gauge reading of the river Jhelum at the Sangam is increasing and at around 4 pm it was recorded as 19.41 ft while as the gauge reading at Ram Munshi Bagh at around the same time was recorded as 11.46 ft. 1 Militant Killed in Kupwara Encounter

June 29 One Militant has been killed in the gunfight that is underway between militants and Government forces in the forest area of North Kashmir's Kupwara District early morning on Friday. Initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat said that encounter started in upper reaches of Kupwara when the hiding militants opened fire upon a searching party today morning. June 28 Amid growing Militancy, a father of five children has joined militancy in Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley two days ago. The Jammu Kashmir Police in Kishtwar has already declared the 34-year-old Talib Gujjar, son of late Noor Mohammad, of Rashgwari, Padyarana in Nagsini tehsil of Kishtwar as a militant after he remained absconding for last two years. Talib had disappeared mysteriously in July 2016 prompting his family to lodge a missing report with Kishtwar police on 21-3-2017. Truck Transporting cattle into Kashmir Set on Fire

June 27 A Truck Transporting bovines to the Kashmir valley was set ablaze by a group of youth on Srinagar- Jammu Highway near Ramban area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a group of youth intercepted a truck carrying cattle into the Kashmir valley and later set it on fire, however the cattle were recovered by the local Police. Nearly two dozen bovine were rescued from the truck before it was set ablaze, police officials said. As the news of cattle being transported into the valley youth gathered at the highway and raised pro Hindu and Anti Government slogans. June 27 After central government ordered to resume anti militancy operations in Kashmir, since then five civilians have been killed in south Kashmir. The first one was Sheeraz Ahmed of Brakpora area of Islamabad (Anantnag) district in South Kashmir who was killed soon during clashes that erupted in Anantnag town after Eid prayers.
