February 08 At least seven dead bodies were recovered from the debris of an avalanche in the rescue operation at Jawahar Tunnel that was started after an avalanche hit the tunnel on Thursday evening. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad (anantnag), Muhammad Younis Mallik told The Kashmiriyat that seven dead bodies were recovered while three persons were rescued alive in the rescue operation since last evening at Jawahar Tunnel. Landslide Hits Ramban, Two Killed

February 08 Two persons including an assistant accounts officer (AAO) were killed in a landslide on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir Friday, officials said. The victims were crossing a landslide zone on foot in Maroog area, when landslide suddenly hit them, they said. The deceased have been identified as AAO Pramod Mankotia, resident of Himachal Pradesh, and Sanjit Lakara of West Bengal. The bodies have been shifted to district hospital Ramban for further formalities, the official added (PTI)

February 07 A snow avalanche hit Sondbrari area of Magam in Kokernag in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Thursday evening. Police officials confirming the incident to The Kashmiriyat said that a snow avalanche hit the area on Thursday evening and a house has been completely buried under snow. The family members, at least four in number, have been buried under snow, they said. They said that the Police with the help of locals have launched a rescue operation in the area to find the missing family members.
