February 09 A 7 year old boy was killed after he came under a snow slide from a roop top of a house which hit him. Identified as Irfan Ahmed Khan, a resident of Chahar area in Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla, he was hit by a snow slide late evening on Friday. The seven year old boy died on the spot.

February 08 At least seven dead bodies were recovered from the debris of an avalanche in the rescue operation at Jawahar Tunnel that was started after an avalanche hit the tunnel on Thursday evening. February 08 Two persons including an assistant accounts officer (AAO) were killed in a landslide on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir Friday, officials said. The victims were crossing a landslide zone on foot in Maroog area, when landslide suddenly hit them, they said. The deceased have been identified as AAO Pramod Mankotia, resident of Himachal Pradesh, and Sanjit Lakara of West Bengal. The bodies have been shifted to district hospital Ramban for further formalities, the official added (PTI)

February 07 A snow avalanche hit Sondbrari area of Magam in Kokernag in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Thursday evening. Police officials confirming the incident to The Kashmiriyat said that a snow avalanche hit the area on Thursday evening and a house has been completely buried under snow. The family members, at least four in number, have been buried under snow, they said. They said that the Police with the help of locals have launched a rescue operation in the area to find the missing family members. February 07 Rayees Shah Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday said that they rescued dozens of families from an avalanche-prone village in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. A police official said that in view of the heavy snowfall and apprehension of snow avalanche at Khan Mohalla Ramwari in Gund Tehsil of Ganderbal District, Police launched an evacuation process under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Tahir Ahmad and after strenuous efforts police evacuated 22 families consisting of 124 members to safer locations. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Zeba Akhter, 58, was clearing snow from her rooftop on Thursday when she fell down from her rooftop. February 07 The Indian Army Thursday said that 450 militants were operating in Jammu Kashmir. They said that the infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC) was intact with the full support of Pakistan as 16 militant camps were operating in the neighbouring country and Pakistan administered Kashmir. “The number of militants is more on the north of Pir Panjal.
