Jammu Kashmir Police Launches Drive Against Child Labour- Rescues 7 Children

January 21 Jammu Kashmir Police has launched a special drive against child labour in the state’s Katra city and rescued seven children, an official said Monday. A police team and the Child Welfare Committee (care and protection of child team) conducted special drive against child labour, begging and other crimes related to juveniles in Katra Sunday, the senior police official said.buy plavix online buy plavix no prescription During the special drive, the team found five children working at various eating points on the track to cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi and found two minors begging, he said.

Charar e Sharif Encounter- No Dead Body Found yet, Militant Hideout Busted

January 21 The firing between militants and government forces at during the charar-e-Sharif encounter in  central Kashmir’s Budgam district has stopped. The Government Forces including Indian army’s 53 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following credible input about the presence of two to three militants hiding in the hideout. During the CASO, the forces were fired upon, which led to an encounter, the firing continued for many hours, however no dead bodies have been found as of yet, an official said. He said that the government forces have been able to bust a hideout of the militants in the mountainous area in Hapatnad area of Charar e Sharif." Meanwhile a search operation is still going in the area which is under a thick blanket of snow.

Deputy Mayor of Srinagar injured after councillor hits him

January 21 The Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation Sheikh Imran was injured in a brawl in Srinagar's SMC office. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the Deputy Mayor was injured when a councilor threw some object at him during councilor session of SMC on Monday. Sheikh Imran was injured and was immediately hifted to police hospital where he got one stitch also. A senior police official confirmed the incident and said that a case was being registered and further action would be taken up accordingly.

Negligence of Doctor at Lal Ded Hospital led to the Death of Baby

January 21 The enquiry committee formed to probe the recent delivery and subsequent demise of a new born baby outside Lal ded hospital has found that the doctor on duty did not follow the Standard Operating Procedure by not admitting the patient. “.. unfortunately the doctor on duty went against the SOP for referrals by not admitting the patient,” concludes the report prepared by the committee that probed the case. The team was lead by Dr Farhat Jabeen. The incident had lead to an uproar across the society and government ordered probe into the incident. PDD Employee Electrocuted in Baramulla

January 21 Shabir Khan An employee of Power Development Department was electrocuted on Monday morning in north Kashmir’s Barmaulla district. Sources told The Kashiriyat that Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Sheeri Baramulla, was electrocuted while repairing an electric line at Sheeri. He was working as an inspector with Jammu Kashmir Government's Power Development Department.

Kashmir- Air Traffic Hit, Highway Blocked as Weather Remains Gloomy

January 21 Authorities at the Srinagar International Airport on Monday said that several flights to and from New Delhi have been cancelled or stand delayed due to bad weather conditions. The officials said that Go Air 213/213 DEL/SXR/IXJ; Air Asia I5 715/716 DEL/SXR/DEL flights are cancelled for today. Meanwhile flights scheduled to land at Srinagar airport from New Delhi have been delayed by several hours. The Kashmir weather department has predicted heavy snowfall across Kashmir for three days. In the past few days the inclement weather conditions have disrupted air traffic several times at the Srinagar International Airport. The Highway connecting Jammu with Srinagar has also been blocked due to fresh snowfall near the Jawahar Tunnel.

January 20 Even though the MeT department had predicted heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir regions from Saturday evening, the weather showed slight improvement on Sunday with an increase in the minimum temperatures due to a nightlong cloud cover, the weather office said. “The minimum temperatures improved due to nightlong cloud cover. Snowfall is likely to occur in the plains and higher reaches on Sunday. The intensity will gradually increase from tomorrow (Monday),” a MET Department official said.
