Two Critically Injured in Sopore Road Accident

January 20 Shabir Khan At least two persons were critically injured after a car they were travelling in met with an accident in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that a car rammed into a divider at New colony area near Axis Bank Sopore, resulting in injuries to two persons. The injured were rushed to SDH Sopore where from doctors referred them SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced treatment. The duo were identified as Abdul Gani Shah (55) of Shalpora Sopore and Zahoor Ahmad (25), of Sher colony Sopore.

Search Operation in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk

January 19 Government forces launched Cordon and Search Operation in city center lal chowk on Saturday. According to eye witnesses large contingent of forces including Army, police and CRPF personnel arrived in the city center and erected barricades. Commuters are being frisked and buildings around the clock tower are also being checked. Forces are present on the building rooftops around Ghanta Ghar. “Drones have been pressed into services as well to survey the area,” eyewitnesses said.

Kupwara Woman Gives Birth on Road, As LD Hospital Refuses to Admit her

January 19 A woman from Moori area of North Kashmir's Kupwara district was forced to deliver on the road after doctors at Srinagar’s Lal Ded Hospital. As pe reports, the doctors at LD Hospital did not allow her to stay in the hospital overnight and refused to admit her on Thursday. Hami Zaman, the brother of the lady while speaking to The Indian Express on Friday said that that Suraya had developed labour pain on Thursday at home. "With nearly 3-feet snow in the area, the road between Moori and Kalaroos, where the nearest hospital is located was difficult to travel to." January 18 Suspected Militants hurled a towards a Post of of Jammu Kashmir Police at Kakpora area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. ALSO READ: Grenade Attack in Srinagar For Second Consecutive Day Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons on Friday evening hurled a grenade towards a the Police post located in Kakpora area of Pulwama. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. The Government Forces launched a Cordon and Search operation in the area. Earlier grenade was hurled on CRPF vehicle in Srinagar following which another grenade attack took place in Gagren area of South Kashmir's Shopian District.

Ganderbal Areas Demand Electricity, Block Roads

January 18 Rayees Shah The Residents of Kurhama in Baroosa area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district staged a protest demonstration against the PDD department and blocked  Baroosa Bypass  at Kurhama area of Ganderbal on Friday Morning. "Our locality is without electricity from past several days. We made frequent requests in this connection before concerned authorities but to no avail,” a protester told The Kashmiriyat. Later, officials reached on the spot and assured the protesters that the issue would be take up with the concerned authorities. After assurance, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.

Two Drug Peddlers Held in Bandipora With Charas

January 18 Jammu Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered charas from their possession. “Police is taking proactive steps against the peddling of drugs in northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district targeting those involved in drug dealings,” the Police said in a statement. Detailing the incident, Police said that 650 grams of charas were recovered from two individuals identified as Shabir Ahmed Reshi resident of Buthoo, Bandipora and Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat resident of Bagh, Bandipora. The Jammu Kashmir Police has registered an FIR in this regard and investigation has also been taken up.
