We will Contest All 87 Seats in Assembly Polls, Says Sajad Lone

December 21 The chairman of Peoples Conference Sajad Gani Lone on Friday ruled out any pre-poll alliance for the assembly elections in Jammu Kashmir. Lone was speaking to media in Srinagar as former PDP leader and lawmaker Abid Ansari joined Peoples Conference. “We will not enter into pre-poll alliance with any regional or national party,” he said, and added that PC will fight elections from all 87 seats. Lone said that he will support National Conference’s autonomy proposal on a condition that if the party identifies those who eroded it. “They should identify them and keep them away.”

17 Year Old Boy Dies in Road Accident in Baramulla

December 21 A 17 year old youth died in a road mishap in north Kashmir’s Tapper Waripora area on Friday noon. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a youth identified as Mohammad Sultan Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar died after a tractor he was travelling in turned turtle. The deceased was a resident of Tapper Waripora area in Baramulla district. He had suffered critical injuries and he was shifted to a local hospital where he died.

Active Militant from Islamabad (Anantnag) arrested in Ganderbal

December 20 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrrsted an active Militant in Ganderbal district today evening. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Jammu Kashmir  Police  along with 24 RR and  118 CRPF in a joint operation arrested a militant. The Militant has been identified as Zubair Shabir Bhat son of Shabir Ahmad Bhat who is a resident of Malpora area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Zubair was a category “C” Militant and an affiliate of Lashkar e Taiba. They said that he was arrested along with a  grenade and scooty on which he was riding has also been seized.

CASO Launched in Tangmarg Area

December 20 The Government Forces on Thursday morning  launched a cordon and search operation in Mahin area of Tangmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat, the forces including 2 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Mahin area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Tangmarg locality and are conducting a massive search operation in the area. Protest Against Pulwama Killings in Handwara

December 19 Hundreds on Wednesday joined the protest march led by Engineer Rasheed in Handwara against the Pulwama killings. Abducted Sopore Vendor Released a Day after Family issues Emotional Appeal

December 19 Shabir Khan The 32-year-old vendor abducted by unknown persons from Brath Kalan village in North Kashmir’s Sopore last week has been released on Wednesday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Tariq Ahmed Ganie was released on Wednesday morning unharmed, a day after his family issued an emotional appeal on Social Media. Tariq Ahmed Ganie was abducted by car-borne persons from the Brath Kalan of Sopore five days ago.

Shutdown, Taranas in Pulwama, People Continue to Visit the Families of Slain Youth

December 18 The Pulwama District of Southern part has shut down for the fourth consecutive day to mourn the Killing of three Militants and Seven civilians in the Sirnoo area of South Kashmir on Saturday. The Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad (Ananatnag) districts had shut spontaneously as the news of the killings spread in the area on Saturday. The Kashmiriyat was informed that traffic is off the roads, while business establishments are shut in the area on Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day. The Government has also suspended classwork in educational institutes while as railway services have also been suspended in South Kashmir. December 18 The National vice-president of the ruling BJP and state in charge Avinash Rai Khanna said on Monday that people should stop interfering in anti-Militancy operations. “Civilian killings are unfortunate, but when people interfere in operations and try to divert the attention of the forces, mishaps are bound to happen. NO Shutdown Call Given By Hurriyat Today

December 18 The Hurriyat leadership has not given any shutdown call for Tuesday as is being circulated on Social Media platforms. Hurriyat had called for a shutdown starting from Saturday for a period of three days earlier after the killing of seven civilians in Pulwama District of South Kashmir. Complete shutdown was witnessed across the valley and Chenab valley on Sunday and Monday and parts of Kashmir valley remained shut on Saturday also.
