Mercury Rises But Stay Below Sub-Zero Across Kashmir
The minimum temperatures remained below sub-zero level across Kashmir Valley even as the mercury rose across the Valley, the weatherman said on Monday.
A meteorological department official told GNS that the mercury increased by a degree Celsius in Srinagar, settling at minus 2.0°C against the previous night’s 3.6°C.
The summer capital of J&K has minus 0.4°C normal for this time of the year and for the last three days barring earlier night, the minimum temperature stayed above sub-zero level. Otherwise, the mercury has consistently remained far below normal this winter. On January 31, the mercury plunged to minus 8.8°C, the coldest January night recorded in Srinagar after 30 years.
The minimum temperature also rose in other parts of the Valley, the MeT official said.
