July 03 The Jammu Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militant, and an Over Ground Worker (OGW) from Kishtawar on Monday. They identified the Militant as Rameez Ahmed Wani and the over ground worker as Nissar Ahmed Ganie. The Police said that ammunition was recovered from their possession saying that with the arrests, a terror module of the HM outfit has been busted and their plot to carry out strikes at different places and revive militancy foiled. During sustained interrogation of Nissar Ahmed, Police recovered three magazines of AK-47 rifle from his possession along with 90 live rounds, they said.

July 02 Sajad Hameed A girl on Monday evening attempted suicide by jumping into river Jhelum in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that a girl in her 20’s jumped into river Jhelum at Chankhan area of Sopore Village in North Kashmir, however timely action by the police saved the girl. Meanwhile police has registered a case and further investigation has been taken up. July 02 Massive Clashes erupted during a Cordon and Search Operation launched in Mitrigam area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. The Government forces laid down a Cordon and search operation in area on Tuesday evening. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. As soon as the Anti Militancy operation was launched, Youth took to streets and shouting pro Freedom and Pro Militancy slogans threw stone on Government Forces. July 01 The Water levels are receding in the Kashmir valley after the Administration had declared floods in the Southern and central parts of Kashmir valley. The latest gauge readings recorded in South Kashmir at 4 pm were 16.99 feet, in central at 18.96 feet and in North Kashmir at 13.25 feet. The water is still flowing above danger mark as crucial days await ahead with weather expected to be wet in the coming day.
