ASI of CRPF Injured in Ganderbal Grenade Attack Succumbs, Toll 2

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died here at a hospital on Tuesday, six days after sustaining injuries in a grenade blast. On 12/29/2020 CRPF ASI injured in Ganderbal grenade blast has died rising the death toll to two in the Ganderbal blast. ASI Nitra Pal Singh was among the three personnel who were injured in a grenade blast by terrorists while performing duties during the District Development Council (DDC) polls in Ganderbal on December 23. Singh took his last breath at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar where he had been admitted after being injured in the grenade attack. Earlier on December 24, CRPF constable Mritunjoy Chetia succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS. (ANI)

A 19-year-old boy from Srinagar died under mysterious circumstances in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir on Monday. An official said that Mubashir Sajad Dar (19) son of Sajad Ahmad Dar, a resident of Nowpora locality of Khanyar in Srinagar, along with his colleague reached Hotel Akash in Pahalgam on Sunday afternoon for a night stay, a local news agency KNO reported. He said that Mubashir did not wake up this morning and was shifted to GMC Anantnag in an unconscious state. “At GMC, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Now his postmortem is being carried out there,” he said. The official added that his colleague, who was along with him, is being questioned and the matter is being investigated.

Meer Irfan  The residents of Batwara area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department over the issue of non-availability of drinking water in the area. The residents speaking to The Kashmiriyat demanded clean drinking water for their survival as the area is facing acute shortage of drinking water facilities. Groups of men and women, who were part of the protest, assembled on the Sonwar- Pantha Chowk road for several hours, as a result, the road was blocked.
