August 20 Shabir Khan Three persons were injured when an old dry Chinar tree fell down on them at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the incident took place at Noorbagh area of Sopore where an old dry Chinar tree suddenly fell on people causing injuries to three people and one among them was rushed to Sub-district hospital in Sopore for advanced treatment. 4 Killed, 9 Injured in a Landslide at Kishtwar

August 20 Four passengers were killed and nine others injured when a landslide struck a hilly road in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, a senior police officer said. The incident took place at Kulligad on the Kishtwar-Paddar road when huge boulders and debris came down from a hillock, trapping a passenger vehicle plying on the road, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajinder Kumar Gupta told PTI. Four people were killed on the spot.Nine other passengers were rescued and rushed to a hospital where the condition of some of them was stated to be critical, the officer said. Officials said the vehicle was carrying a group of devotees from Udhampur to the shrine of Machail in Padder Valley. ( PTI)

One Militant Killed in Baramulla

August 19 The Indian Army on Sunday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing a militant at Kasturi Naar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A defence spokesperson said an infiltration bid was foiled at Kasturi Naar area in Baramulla. He said so far one militant was killed and operation is going on in the area.

August 19 The Younger son of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has denounced stone throwing and said it has brought destruction for the people of Jammu Kashmir. August 18 A CASO has been launched in Tujar Shareef area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla District on Saturday afternoon Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 22 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and 179 BN CRPF laid down the Search operation jointly. Three Punjab Residents Arrested with 13 Kilo Fukki

August 18 The Jammu Kashmir Police led by SHO Lahkanpur Susheel Sharma acting on a tip off established special checkpoint at NHW Lakhanpur and seized one Innova car bearing registration no. PB08D-8195 and recovered 13.5 kilograms of Poppy Straw from the car which was on way from Kashmir to Punjab. Three persons were also travelling in the car and police arrested all of them and registered a case FIR No 84/18 U/s 8/15 NDPS Act against them. Dead Body of 20 year old Youth Found in Jhelum

August 18 The dead body of a youth from Budgam who had drowned in Jhelum river was retrieved by SDRF men on Saturday afternoon. Officials said that Shabir's dead body was recovered post two days on Saturday in jhelum at Nawa Kadal in Srinagar. Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh, a resident of Sitaharan Khag area of Budgam who was 20 years old and working as a labourer had drowned in Jhelum at Nawakadal Srinagar.
