Panic Grips Tanghdar- People Run for Safety

August 14 Rayees Shah Panic has gripped the Tangdhar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district On Tuesday after a cloudburst hit forest area of Shammas bari in the area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a huge amount of water is flowing downwards towards the Tangdhar market. People have closed the market and are running towards safer locations.

Panic Grips Lal Chowk After Non Locals Try to Hoist Indian Flag

August 14 FIRDOUS QADRI Panic Gripped Srinagar's Lal Chowk area when local disallowed some unknown persons (non Locals) from hoisting an Indian Flag in the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that some non locals (right Wing Activists) tried to hoist an Indian Flag at Lal Chowk Srinagar after which locals came out and snatched the flag. The Locals later staged a demonstration and shouted pro Freedom, pro Militancy and Anti India Slogans. The non-locals trying to unfurl the flag in the city centre were rescued by CRPF personnel deployed in the area. Some youth have also been detained by the Jammu Kashmir Police.

Now Yasin Malik Summoned by Enforcement Directorate

August 14 The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has asked separatist leader and chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Mohammed Yasin Malik to appear before it in September with regards to a case involving violation of foreign exchange regulations. Malik has been asked to appear before the ED in person or through an authorized representative on September 5 or 6. The notice to Malik was issued under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for an alleged foreign exchange regulation violation amounting to Rs 48.23 lakh in 2001. The Jammu Kashmir Police had seized $100,000 (about Rs 48.23 lakh the value in Indian currency at that time) from Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and his wife Shamima alias Shazia alias Bitti, Dar had revealed to police that the money was meant for Malik.
