August 01 The Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday wondered if the situation in Jammu Kashmir had deteriorated so much that the government was afraid of allowing any foreign correspondents to report freely from the state. Annie Gowen, the India bureau chief of Washington Post, tweeted on Tuesday that she was in Kashmir for a friend’s wedding. 06 Drug Peddlers arrested by Jammu Kashmir Police

July 31 The Jammu Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested Six people on charges of drug peddling in two separate incidents in Samba and Rajouri districts of Jammu Kashmir. In the first incident, a car was intercepted by Jammu Kashmir Police last night at Sunderbani area in Rajouri district and three people were arrested with 18 grams of brown sugar, Police said. In the second incident, three persons were arrested in connection with peddling of 20 grams of heroin in Samba district. They were identified as Surinder, Abhishek Sharma and Ajay Sharma.

Body of Mudasir Handed Over to Family-Stone Pelting Clashes in Barzulla

July 31 Intense Clashes have erupted in the Barzulla area of Srinagar on Tuesday between the youth and Government Forces. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth shouting pro Militancy and pro Freedom slogans threw stones on Government Forces deployed in the areas. The Forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting youth, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Pertinently the body of Mudasir from Barzulla who was killed in a gunfight on June 29 in Kupwara has been handed over to his family. The body of Mudasir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Barzulla Srinagar was exhumed after his father’s DNS matched with Mudasir.

July 31 The Jammu Kashmir Police has sought the help of the general public in tracing down a missing girl, who is missing since 29.07.2018. The girl has been identified as Afroza daughter of Ghulam Ahmad Kana, Age 19/20 from Seer Colony in Sopore. The Police station Tarzoo has started a Search operation and asked the general public for help to trace the missing girl. First Time in Kupwara- Rifle of a Policeman Snatched

July 31 For the First time in District Kupwara, Unknown persons overpowered a cop and snatched a service rifle from a cop in Kandhar area of North Kashmir's Kupwara District on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat a policeman attached as a security personnel to former minister and Abdul Haq Khan was overpowered by some persons who snatched his service near Kandhar area. The Government Forces soon launched a search operation arpound the area to nab the attackers.

2 Arrested with 30 Kilo Poppy

July 31 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested Two persons  with 30 kg of poppy on the outskirts of Jammu city. During routine checks at Manwal village, last night, a Maruti car driver tried to evade the police party. The police followed the car and nabbed its driver and his companion after a short chase. As much as 30 kg of poppy was found in the car. Following this, a case was registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and the duo were arrested. During questioning, the accused said they brought the drug consignment from Srinagar to sell the same to the youth of Jammu. The police official said more persons are suspected to be involved in the case and further investigation is on.

CASO Underway in Bandipora

July 31 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in Chakwali Tulail of Gurez Sector of North Kashmir's Bandipora District on Tuesday. The 51 RR Of Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched the operation, Officials told The Kashmiriyat. Locals said that huge contingents of troops are conducting a search operation in the area. The search operation has been launched following a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Officials said.

Militants Pose with Sophisticated Weapon- Photo Goes Viral

July 31 The Image of a Local Militant Azad Malik alias Dada of Arwani area in South Kashmir posing with a new weapon has surfaced. This is a relatively new weapon and has not been used in the Valley before. As per a story carried by One India, The Indian Security agencies are on job to find out more details on the weapon and say that it has been provided by the Pakistan army. In the past, Militants have only used Ak 47 or Ak 56 Guns but last year too, the image of Sameer tiger, a slain Militant had appeared holding a M4 Carbine. The Indian Security Agencies have reports that the Militants are planning to move on to more sophisticated weapons in a bid to challenge the Indian Government forces.  

After a Month of Protests, Barzulla Family Likely to get Body of Slain Militant Today

July 31 After continuous protests of more than a month, the Barzulla family is likely to get the mortal remains of Mudasir Ahmed today on Tuesday. Mudasir Ahmed had left his home in Old Barzulla Srinagar in December 2016 for some work. He stayed in touch with family members on phone, but in January his phone became switched off. On June 29 this year, Mudasir had been killed in an encounter in Kupwara. The family went to Kralpora Kupwara police station where they were told that the slain was a foreigner and had been buried. The news spread in the Barzulla area and clashes, Protests escalated in the Barzullah locality, scores of youth took to streets and staged protests, seeking the body of the slain.
