July 27 The Islamabad (Anantnag) township of South Kashmir is wearing a deserted look with CRPF and Policemen patrolling almost every street on Friday. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that barbered wires have been places at the entry and exit points of the Islamabad (Anantnag) township restricting the movement of public to a heavy extent. Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed in the township and Quimoh belt of Kulgam,. Islamabad Shuts down amid Clashes for Second day, Kulgam for 5th Day

July 26 The Kulgam District in South Kashmir is observing a complete shutdown for the 5th consecutive day on Thursday against the Militant killings in South Kashmir. Earlier three Militants including two Militants from Kulgam were killed in a gunfight that raged in Khudwani area of the Kulgam district on Sunday (22 July). On Wednesday another Kulgam Militant identified as Bilal Ahmed Dar was killed in a gunfight that raged in Islamabad township early morning. 2 Kupwara Youth Planning to Join Militants Reunited with their Families

July 25 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have reunited two youth from north Kashmir’s Kupwara with their homes. The youth as per Police were planning to join militancy. The Police in a statement issued to the press said the youth were brought back from Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. According to reports, the youth had gone missing two days ago. However, the parents of the youth did not lodge any missing report. "Our reliable sources suggest that the duo had intentions of joining militant ranks,”a Police official said. “After proper counselling both the youth were handed over to their parents,” he said.

Another Encounter Starts at Kupwara

July 25 A massive gunfight has raged in the Kashar Katan hall in Keran sector of North Kashmir's Kupwara District early morning on Wednesday. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a group of armed Militants were seen hiding in the forest area near the line of control. Army's 14 RR cordoned off the area following which Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them, triggering off an exchange of gunfire. Additional reinforcements of Army and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police were rushed to the spot. Heavy exchange of fire was on from both sides when last reports came.

Hizb Claims responsibility of Batamaloo Attack

July 24 Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen while owning the responsibility of Batamaloo attack said that a paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed after the boys affiliated with Hizb attacked them. The outfit Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin said that a couple of militants from the outfit carried an attack on Indian troopers resulting in the death of a CRPF man and injuries to others. Pertinently, the militants carried out the attack in busy Batamaloo near Fire and Emergency Service office creating panic in the area. A trooper whom sources identified as Shankar Lal of 23 Battalion was injured in the attack who later on succumbed to his injuries. (CNS)

July 24 Massive Stone throwing clashes have Erupted in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired upon a party of CRPF near Fire station Headquarters in Batamaloo area injuring two men of CRPF at the spot. One of the injured CRPF men has succumbed to his injuries on the way to the Hospital. Immediately after the attack, the forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area. Scores of youth hit the streets in Batamaloo shouting pro Freedom and threw stones on the troopers. The clashes were going on when this report was filed.

338 Ceasefire Violations during Ramadan Ceasefire

July 24 A total of 338 incidents of ceasefire violation and cross-border firings were reported in Jammu Kashmir during the month of Ramzan, Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said today. At least 14 forces personnel and 11 civilians were killed in the cross-border firing from Pakistan in April and June, he told the Lok Sabha. “During the month of Ramzan – from May 17 to June 16 – altogether 338 incidents of ceasefire violation and cross-border firings were reported in Jammu and Kashmir as against 139 during April 16 to May 16,” Ahir, the minister of state for home, said, replying to a written question.
