May 06 Amid clashes and a low voter turnout in the South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday, seven areas of Kulgam district witnessed zero percent polling, as per The Kashmiriyat correspondent. The Kakpora, Bal Ashram, Patalbagh, Samboora areas of Pulwama district witnessed a almost zero percent polling out of a total of 12858 total voters. May 06 298 out of 87684 total votes have been polled in the Shopian assembly segment of Anantnag Lok Sabha while 242 votes have been polled in the Wachi asesembly segment of the district till 9 AM 83,532. The SOuth Kashmir district is going to polls alongside Pulwama in the final leg of polls for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat amid tight security arrangements, the polling staff was airlifted to various places in the district. May 06 The Pulwama and Shopian districts of South Kashmir will go to polls in the three-phase schedule for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency today. Over 5.22 lakh electors are going to exercise their franchise in the twin districts spread over six assembly segments comprising Tral, Pampore, Pulwama, Rajpora, Wachi and Shopian. May 05 A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant, hailing from Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, Sunday laid down arms and returned to the mainstream, police said. A police spokesman did not reveal the identity of the militant, saying “the identity stands protected . “One more youth from Pulwama, who was part of terror outfit JeM, has shunned the path of violence and returned to mainstream with efforts of his family and police, the spokesman said. Dozens of militants have laid down their arms in Kashmir since 2017 when police announced that they will accept offer to surrender of local militants even during ongoing encounters. May 04 Shutdown is being observed in Pulwama and Shopian districts following killing of three militants in a gunfight with government forces on Friday. Reports said that all the shops and other business establishments are shut in the two districts while public transport is off the roads.
