On Election Day, Forces Rain Pellets on Youth in Islamabad (anantnag) Area, Four Injured

April 23 Four youth have been injured as forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets at the youth who were holding protests against the elections in South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that four youth have sustained pellet injuries during intense clashes that erupted in Dehruna area of Dialgam in South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) district. They said that one of them has been shifted to District hospital of Islamabad (anantnag) in Janglat Mandi while three were treated locally. Hospital Sources in DH Islamabad (anantnag) confirmed the identity of the youth as Adil Rashid Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik. He has sustained pellet injuries on his face and throat. Intense clashes were going on in the locality when this report was filed.

Pakistani Militant “Chotta Dujana” Arrested From Baramulla

April 22 Sajad Hameed The Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant from Mirgund Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Sources said a militant was arrested by joint team of forces from Mirgund Pattan area. The militant has been identified as Aqib alias Chota Dujana a resident of Pakistan, as per sources the militant was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba. Aqib was travelling in a Xylo vehicle when he was arrested.

April 22 The Government of India has decided to deploy 300 additional companies of security forces for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls in the southern Kashmir spread over four districts. April 21 Police on Sunday claimed to have rescued four youths from joining militant ranks in frontier district of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. “Kupwara police received a reliable information regarding some youth from different parts of Kupwara district being exploited for commission of militant acts and being motivated for their eventual induction into militant ranks by Pakistan based handlers,” Kupwara police said in a statement.
