April 16 Firdous Qadri The Family members of the inmates of the Central Jail, Srinagar held a protest on Tuesday claiming that the jail was not safe for the prisoners. During a protest at the Press Colony of Srinagar, the families of inmates demanded that the jail should not be turned into ‘Guantanamo’. Recently, violent protests broke out inside the high security central jail in Srinagar reportedly over some construction work at a barrack, two prisoners were also injured. April 16 Rayees Shah The Locals of Goripora in Beerwah of Central Kashmir's Budgam district have accused the Government Forces of vandalising their property during nocturnal raids on Tuesday. Forces Launch CASO in Srinagar Outskirts

April 16 The Government Forces on Tuesday afternoon launched Cordon and Search operation (CASO) in Aribagh area of Kanipora in Srinagar District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a search operation has been launched jointly by forces including Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF in Kanipora area of Srinagar outskirts. All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed on Tuesday afternoon. A door to door search operation has begun, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched as an Anti Militancy operation on May 2, 2017 amid a rise in the local recruitment into Militant groups in the Kashmir valley. Minor Crushed to Death by Army Vehicle in Poonch

April 16 A 13-year old boy was crushed to death by an army vehicle at Gulpore area of Poonch district in Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon. A minor boy identified as Sajad Ahmad son of Mohammed Taj, a resident of Gulpore was critically wounded after being hit by an army vehicle in the area. The boy was immediately rushed to district hospital Poonch where doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival. A police official also confirming the incident said that the case stands registered and further investigation has been taken up.
