Clashes Erupt in Nowgam Srinagar, Sangam Islamabad (Anantnag)

October 24 Massive Clashes erupted between youth and Government Forces in the Nowgam area of Srinagar District on Wednesday after the killing of two Militants in the area. Sources told The Kashmriyat that youth in large numbers hit the streets and threw stones on vehicles of Government Forces who retaliated with intense tear smoke shelling. Meanwhile youth in hundreds poured onto the streets as the news of the killing of Dr. Sabzar spread in the area, people in droves of hundreds and thousands blocked the national highway near Sangam. The Police fired tear smoke shells to disperse the people, however they retaliated by tear smoke shelling and pellet firing. Dr. Sabzar Likely Killed in Srinagar Encounter

October 24 Two militants have been killed on Wednesday early morning in an encounter in Sothu Kothair area of Nowgam in Srinagar. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the gunfight started after a joint team of army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Sathu area of Nowgam in Srinagar district after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants. Hurriyat Calls for Kulgam Chalo tomorrow

October 23 The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a march to south Kashmir’s Kulgam district tomorrow to pay homage to seven civilians killed in a blast in Laroo village on Sunday. The leadership has also called for a shutdown on October 27. In a statement, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik appealed to people in general and those living in south Kashmir in particular to march to Kulgam tomorrow in solidarity with the families of seven civilians killed in Kulgam blast. The leadership has also called for protests after Friday prayers to denounce the killings.

October 22 The Southern Kashmir District of Kulgam has poured onto the streets and the fields to bury their seven among the eight dead who were killed during a gunfight that erupted in Laroo area of Southern Kashmir's Kulgam District early morning on Sunday. October 21 At least two Pakistani infiltrators and three Government forces personnel lost their lives in an encounter at Rajouri district while one Army man was injured in the encounter.
